hi, my name is erin and come april 21st, i will be participating in Relay for Life. RfL is a fundraiser hosted by the American Cancer Society, and all proceeds go towards cancer research.
The event encourages participants to seek donations for the community at large, and to try and raise as much money as possible prior to event day. On the day of the event, participants spend 24 hours at a nearby track, generally a school or university. for all 24 hours, one participant from each team is on the track at all times, and the others are either cheering them on, catching a quick nap, or participating in one of the many on sight fundraisers. This April, I will be walking in honor of my great uncle Emil, who died recently of lung cancer complications.
I would truly appreciate any donations, it doesn't have to be a lot, because small amounts do add up.
You can donate here.
Thank you so much for your help!

Current Mood: hopefulhopeful
Have you ever thought "wouldn't it be great to see the direct result of my contribution?" Do you believe charity begins at home? how can we help others overseas when there are people in our own back yard tha do not have the basics of life and yet they do not qualify for food stamps or any other supportive program....... Here is a chance to see your donations at work..... I am not running a confidence scam, i am sincerly pleading for help. We are at the time where something has to give, or the stress will break us. We are simple honest hardworking family that is desprite need of a car. The last few years have been ones of turmoil and upheaval, a constant uphill struggle just to survive day to day and through it all i have kept my faith. Countless times in my life and house i have helped people, given places to stay, food to eat, a shoulder to cry on and a few dollars for those in need, always with the idea of paying it forward, I never asked anyone for anything..........till now. please feel free to read my blog, it is a cronical of these hard times and triumps, and if you or someone you know can help...... please spread the word. Thank you.

Sep. 14th, 2006 @ 01:21 pm Just wanted to say thanks and keep up the AMAZING WORK!! :)
Hi everyone,

SAVE (Support American Volunteer Efforts) just wanted to say thank you very much for all of your support, it means more than you know!! SAVE has been trying to get the word spread about our cause, and it has been thanks to all of you that we have been so successful!

In case some of you don't know, SAVE is a grassroots organization that supports a bill in Congress (HR 4387) that would allow for up to a $2,000 tax credit for anyone who volunteers for any non-profit organization!

What we, as SAVE volunteers are asking you to do is go to our website at http://www.saveusa.info! and take 30 seconds (YES IT LITERALLY TAKES ONLY 30 SECONDS!!) and sign up in support of SAVE.

Some people cannot understand why people who volunteer would even want to receive a tax credit, as volunteers are selfless people. The reason, you ask, is because volunteers are 2.5 times more likely to donate the money to organizations who really need it, such as the places they volunteer for; soup kitchens, hurricane relief funds, Habitat for Humanity, churches, Hospice, local organizations who could always use stuff, and many, many others!

There are over 90 million Americans who volunteer an average of 3.6 hours a week to take care of people, and fight our fires, feed the hungry, and do tons and tons of selfless things because it is the right thing to do. A lot of people volunteer because they do not have the money to donate, so this bill would be a way to say "thank you," and they can do with it what they will.

Thank you all again for your support of this cause, and hopefully we can continue to be successful with your help!! Remember, all it takes is 30 seconds! Please help [Spread the Word!] of how to support all American Volunteers!

Thank you very much,
The SAVE Volunteers!

Aug. 9th, 2006 @ 01:29 pm Calling all college students!
Did you know that 89 million Americans volunteer?

Better yet, did you know that 46% of 18-24 year olds volunteer 3 or 4 hours a week?

It's true! This shows a dedication to volunteerism and political action beyond what students are generally known for.

This age group is the incoming generation of voters, policy makers and future leaders of America, and absolutely vital to the continuing success of volunteer service in their communities.

S.A.V.E. (Support American Volunteer Efforts) currently has a bill before Congress that if passed would grant up to $2,000 in a tax rebate to people who volunteer for nonprofit organizations.

The only way to pass this bill is to let Congress know that Americans support it!

Go to the S.A.V.E. website and vote for the S.A.V.E. bill! You could win a case of Annie's Macaroni and Cheese and also help make the S.A.V.E. bill a reality.

Hello everybody. Hope you have a nice day. I'm writing to you in such a cause, that I need a bit (or may be more;)) of help. There is such a site http://www.sos-ru.com. This site has it's goal to help those people, who are in need and may be lost their last hope. The concept of it is that these people who seek for aid can make an announcement, so that people who want and can help would get in touch with them or just make a donation for their good. Our world is such an unfair thing, that it happens more often that people's cries for help remain unheard. But when the miracle happens and a little girl survives because somebody helped her, in such cases you begin to believe that the thing is worth to be. And to increase the number of miracles I want this site to become more effective. For this purpose the administration of it desided to make fully efficient english version of it. The site in his most part is to help russian people, but may be there are people in other countries who can help them. However there appeared a number of problems in decision of which I hope You can help us!!
1. Do you know any sites in english of the concept alike, or any sites which can be helpful in advertising the sites of the kind?
2. Is there any specific culture of charity in english-speaking countries?
3. If on a sudden there are people who know russian and would like to help in translation or/and proof-reading, you're very welcome!
Any information and comments are welcome!
You may also email me directly to zink.blende(@)gmail(dot)com
Thank you for you concern!

S.A.V.E (Support American Volunteer Efforts) is a nonprofit organization campaigning to pass bill HR4387, which is currently under review in the Ways & Means Committee of Congress.

If the bill were to be passed it would offer up to $2,000 per year in a tax rebate to every volunteer.

Volunteers are two a half times more likely to donate back to non-profits where they volunteer, and their communities. Rather than giving tax breaks to the wealthiest 1% of society this would help to put money back where it is sorely needed.

SAVE is a grass-roots organization. Our office has a staff of three full time employees and several volunteers. We're in the midst of a nation wide press release, selling the idea of SAVE to the media, non-profit and volunteer agencies around the country.

The only way to pass this bill is to let congress know that Americans support it! The easiest way to do this is to vote for SAVE at our website.

Please check out our website: SAVE - Support American Volunteer Efforts

Every year, the Social Responsibilities Special Interest Section of the American Association of Law Libraries sponsors a children's book drive to benefit a school or schools in the city in which the AALL conference is being held. This year’s efforts will benefit two of the most needy schools in the St. Louis area, Central Elementary and Vashon 9th Grade Academy.Collapse )

Please help out with this initiative if you can. I know for a fact that every book and every penny donated goes to the libraries.
